W. John Schacht, M.A.

W. John Schacht is a former daily newspaper reporter and magazine writer/editor who teaches in the American Studies and Communications departments. His concentration is popular culture and music trends, news media trends, and writing about the arts and culture in the digital age. He earned a B.A. in English & American Literature from UC San Diego, and a Master’s in Journalism from UC Berkeley. He still occasionally writes about popular music and the arts for national, regional and local publications and websites.
